If you'’ve ever seen the Sex & the City episode during which Samantha Jones wears a widow-like veil for days to hide her red, oozing and swollen facial skin after her chemical peel, you'’ve likely been scared away from doing any skin resurfacing treatments. However, there are many non-invasive alternatives to skin resurfacing that don'’t make you hide in the shadows for days or weeks just to look a few years younger or get rid of a minor skin problem. Treatments like microdermabrasion, FotoFacial skin rejuvenation, Skin Tightening and Affrim are all non-invasive options to help you look your best.

Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a simple alternative to more invasive options like chemical peels. Microdermabrasion is very comfortable procedure and requires no anesthetic. The procedure also has no downtime so it can even be done on your lunch hour. Most patients we treat will receive a series of treatments so over time, the most visible effects are seen.

To the beauty novice, microdermabrasion may sound more like something you'’d find inside your computer than something you'’d get done to your face. Microdermabrasion is actually defined by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons as a skin-freshening technique that repairs facial skin. The aesthetic professionals that perform microdermabrasion use a device that sprays tiny crystals onto the skin and uses suction to remove the crystals and dead skin the treatment removes. The treatment is very similar to a deep exfoliation or deep facial.

The easiest way to think about microdermabrasion is to equate it to a mini (and much gentler) sandblaster for your face. Microdermabrasion is a very effective method of reducing fine lines and wrinkles, dark spots on the surface of the skin, mild acne and even the appearance of scars. Post-treatment, moisturizing the area treated is very important to help cell regeneration.

FotoFacial Skin Rejuvenation
At our laser centers, we offer microdermbrasion in combination with our FotoFacial skin rejuvenation treatment. FotoFacial skin rejuvenation produces superior results in reducing wrinkles, because it delivers energy at both the top layer of the skin as well as deeper layers all while smoothing and toning the skin. The FotoFacial treatment uses a combination of laser (light) energy and radio frequency to target discolored skin areas, pigmented lesions, as well as stimulating the creation of new collagen. We couple the laser-based FotoFacial skin rejuvenation treatment with microdermabrasion to generate additional collagen production beneath the skin surface, plumping the skin, creating a more even texture and reducing fine lines and unwanted pigmentation.

Skin Tightening
The newest capability in virtual facelifts comes in the form of a treatment called skin tightening. Skin tightening is a non-invasive procedure helps remove wrinkles, tighten the skin and improve skin laxity on the neck and face. Laser energy-based skin tightening boosts production of collagen that fills in wrinkles at the jaw line; along the brow line; and around the eyes, mouth and cheeks. It’’s a much more comfortable process than injections of foreign materials like Botox or Restylane, yet generates similar results. It can make wrinkles in the forehead disappear; helping to lift the brow line as well as iron out dreaded Crow’’s feet. It uses a natural method to restore young-looking skin.

Affirm
To complement the benefits of skin tightening, the Affirm treatment also helps reduce the slink flaws caused by sun damage or acne, such as age spots and scarring. Affirm uses fractional laser technology to smooth both scars and wrinkles, while evening out any uneven skin tone. Fractional laser technology treats the skin by delivering tiny pinpoints of laser light in only a fraction of the area. Healthy, untreated skin is left between the treated skin areas which help the skin heal fast and minimize downtime. This treatment helps prefect the overall appearance of the skin, leaving you with an even-toned, flawless appearance.

Skin surface repair treatments can stave off wrinkles making plastic surgery unnecessary. These types of treatments can give your skin a more youthful, fresh look but they cannot remove deep scars or prevent aging so will require maintenance treatments for a consistent glow. When choosing a treatment provider, look for someone who has before and after photos of patients they can share with you, as well as thorough training in the most up-to-date treatments in skin resurfacing before starting any new treatment regimen.

The serratus anterior is a group of muscles connected to the rib cage that help stabilize the shoulder blades. If this muscle is poorly developed due to poor development or instability, the shoulder blade will wing out, or appear to protrude from the back.

By vasili gatsinaris

The serratus anterior is a group of muscles connected to the rib cage that help stabilize the shoulder blades. If this muscle is poorly developed due to poor development or instability, the shoulder blade will wing out, or appear to protrude from the back. Additionally, the muscles surrounding the rotator cuff and scapula will tighten in attempt to stabilize the rotator cuff and scapula. The result will be pain and stiffness in the area in addition to on going damage to the joints.

The serratus anterior is as a band of muscles attached to each of the eight upper ribs on the side of the chest and from there, they wrap around the chest to attach to the shoulder blade also known as the scapula at the medial border.

This muscle is responsible for the protraction, or moving forward, of the shoulder blade that produces forward movement to stabilize our arm when we reach forward. It is also responsible for the upward movement of our shoulder blade to stabilize our arm when we reach upward. It is largely responsible for our ability to move our arms above shoulder level and for the ability to rotate our arms while above the shoulder level.

The serratus anterior is supported and stimulated to action by the long thoracic nerve that originates with the brachial plexus. This nerve is especially susceptible to injury during surgery or infection to the area. The types of surgery that may affect the nerve process of the thoracic nerve may include lymph node clearance, back surgery near the area, broken ribs, or other types of injury that may occur in that area. If the brachial nerve is damaged, or the muscle is weak, often a winged scapula is the result.

What Is Involved In A Winged Scapula
Although it is considered normal posture in children, in adults a winged scapula is a sign of muscle weakness and trouble. When the shoulder blade protrudes from the back, especially when not in use, it is a definite sign of a weak serratus anterior. This condition may also be accompanied by a protracted shoulder girdle. Complete flexation or rotation of the shoulder may be restricted because the winged scapula causes a forward tilt of the shoulder joint. Additionally, the rhomboids may be weak and the pectoralis minor may be shortened.

The rhomboids are two diamond shaped muscles on either side of the spine directly beneath the trapezius that connects to the spine at the T2 and T5 vertebra and also connects at the medial border of the scapula along with another stabilizer tendon called the supraspinous.

The pectoralis minor, located directly behind the pectoralis major, is a triangular shaped muscle near the uppermost part of the chest and connects to the third, fourth, and fifth ribs and two other sets of muscles called the intercostalis. The pectoralis minor pass over the shoulder and also connect along the upper medial border of the scapula.

The risk of shoulder injury compounds with weakness of the supraspinitus, external shoulder rotation inflexibility, and the shortening of the pectoralis minor or weak rhomboids.

Exercises That Harm Or Heal
There are some exercises that should be avoided or that may cause injury or pain if performed while the serratus anterior and its supporting muscle are weak. These include the shoulder press; pull overs, pull downs, bench press, chest press, dumbbell flies, and other lat exercises.

You should, however, attempt to strengthen the serratus anterior and lengthen the pectoralis minor. Exercises that can aid you in doing so should include shoulder raises, cable rows, lever rows, pectoralis minor stretches, wall lat stretches, door way modified stretches, wall shoulder girdle stretch, doorway subscapularis stretch, and the breast stroke when swimming.

Avoid stretches and exercises that protract the shoulder, holding your shoulder in a protracted position, and any daily movements, including during sleep, that cause the shoulder to protract, or move outward.

To check for a weak serratus anterior or a winged scapula condition, stand facing a wall and place both your hands on the wall with arms outstretched. If your shoulder blade swings out to the sides and are clearly, extremely visible then you have a weak serratus anterior.

It is important to note that just a weak muscle may not be all that is at stake here. The thoracic nerve may be affected, either through injury or infection, both current and past occurrences. Therefore it is important to be diagnosed by a specialist before obtaining or affecting treatments.

The public''s understanding of the dangers involved in sun exposure has increased enormously over the past few years, the result of a more intense focus on the issue by news media and the medical community''s expanded screening efforts.

By Ann Knapp

The public’’s understanding of the dangers involved in sun exposure has increased enormously over the past few years, the result of a more intense focus on the issue by news media and the medical community’’s expanded screening efforts. Despite rising awareness, myths about sun exposure and year-round safety measures that should be taken still exist. These misunderstandings about skin protection can lead to unintentionally hazardous sun exposure.

Oftentimes, women make sure their children are covered in sunscreen but fail to make it a priority for themselves. Some cosmetics companies include sunscreen in moisturizers and foundations but the sun protection factor generally is low.

To keep skin healthy and safe and to help minimize the sun’’s escalating effect on fine lines and wrinkles, be aware of the consequences of exposure to ultraviolet rays by knowing the facts to protect your skin.

Sun Exposure Myths & Facts

Most people think that they only need to be concerned about skin protection in the summer. The problem with this thinking is that sun protection is essential all year long. Snow and ice are very efficient reflectors of ultraviolet rays and, compared to normal conditions, generate almost twice the risk of UV damage.

I have also heard people say that they are safe from UV exposure as long as they are not outside in the sun. This could not be further from the truth. Windows in your car or house do not provide protection. UV rays easily penetrate them.

Some also believe that they should sunbathe for an hour a day just to get enough vitamin D. However, studies indicate that 45 minutes of sun exposure daily to the face, neck and hands provides adequate production of vitamin D, and exposure during daily activities like walking the dog or exercising usually provide this amount.

Occasionally I have had patients tell me they think a base tan from a tanning bed is safe and will help avoid dangerous rays. The fact is you should stay away from tanning parlors and tanning equipment. Any exposure to UV rays adds to the risk of skin damage and cancer.

I have even heard some say that a single sunburn will only minimally increase their risk of developing skin cancer. In fact, one blistering sunburn doubles the risk of melanoma, so sun bathing should be avoided.

Tips for Protecting Your Skin

Stay out of the sun between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when UV rays are most intense. Cover up with a broad-brimmed hat, long sleeves and sunglasses that block UV rays. Most important of all, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15, even when it’’s cloudy. Don'’t forget to apply it to commonly missed areas, such as ears, nose and top of your feet. Sun-sensitive individuals should look for even greater protection and use products like a good SPF 65 that provides full-spectrum protection by blocking both UVA and UVB.

It’’s Not too Late to Reverse Some Sun Damage

If you already have spots, wrinkles or visible blood vessels from sun exposure, a number of skin treatments are available to reduce the appearance of these skin irregularities. Traditional techniques involve chemical peels, dermabrasion or lightening creams, all of which destroy the epidermis to different degrees. New technology, however, is safe, non-invasive, uses pulsed light and radiofrequency waves, and serves to stimulate collagen repair lessening the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

A treatment commonly referred to as skin rejuvenation combines revitalizing energy-based skin rejuvenation with alternating treatments of microdermabrasion for safe, rapid skin renewal. The system targets skin irregularities while stimulating new collagen production, helping to eliminate freckles and sun spots and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. The treatment is quick and painless. There is no need for any needles or anesthesia, the spots rarely return, and the risk of scarring is very minimal. My patients who have received skin rejuvenation treatments have seen great results in reversing damage done to skin due to prolonged exposure to the sun.

To protect yourself, learn all the facts about sun exposure. Be aware that UVA waves are present year-round, from sunrise to sunset. Know that prevention is always easier than trying to reverse the damage. You'’ll look and feel healthier when you keep your family and yourself protected from damaging UV rays.

By taking a short amount of time to apply sunscreen every day, you can save time and money in the future by taking steps to prevent skin and health issues related to sun exposure.

By Ann Knapp

There are many things in life that we have a tendency to take for granted. Often we don'’t think about these things or areas of our life until something goes wrong. An example that illustrates this point could be the taking of one’’s health for granted. Specifically, we could be eating anything that we wanted. Then one day we experience and extreme ache in one of our teeth. It is when this pain is experienced that we realize that perhaps we have neglected oral hygiene or have eaten something that was not beneficial to prevent tooth decay.

Another part of our body that is often taken for granted is our skin. Often this important part of the human body is counted on to provide protection and maintain the temperature of the body without being given a second thought. However, there may be ongoing damage being experienced by the skin on a daily basis that ultimately may lead to skin disease.

Therefore, it is important to provide skin care. Two primary ways of providing natural skin care fall into two categories. Those categories include exterior care and internal care of the skin.

External Natural Skin Care

There are two specific ways that an individual can provide natural skin care for the exterior part of their skin. Those two specific ways are through the exfoliation process and by applying quality lotions or creams.

Exfoliation is a process in which the individual takes a dry brush and lightly scrubs their skin. This is an important process because the skin is always reproducing itself and therefore dense skin remains on the surface. This procedure can be done with a soft bristle brush made of natural material.

By lightly scrubbing the skin dead skin is dislodged. This in turn keeps the pores of the skin unclogged which reduces the buildup of oil in the pores. In addition to stimulating the skin, this exfoliating process stimulates the circulation of blood and the lymph system.

It is best to conduct this natural skin care process prior to the morning shower. In that way the loosened skin can be washed away.

One additional way of providing a natural skin care solution to this important organ of the body is by restoring some of the natural features of skin. For example, if an individual’’s skin is dry and flaky a quality skin moisturizer can be applied to help restore some of the moisture that has been lost. In addition, as the body begins to age it loses some of its elasticity. This is to the fact that collagen levels of the skin are reduced. To help minimize this loss of collagen and subsequent wrinkling, natural skin care products can be applied.

Internal Natural Skin Care

As part of caring for the skin externally, it is also important to care for the skin internally. This internal natural skin care can be accomplished through one’’s diet.

The first critical part of a diet to produce healthy skin is through the drinking of proper amounts of water. Water not only helps to hydrate the body but helps to eliminate waste products. This is accomplished by flushing the kidneys with the proper amounts of water as well as maintaining the right digestive balance. Specifically, insufficient amounts of water can cause constipation. Constipation is an in balance of the digestive system which retains waste products within the body. This retention of waste products ultimately affects the health of the skin.

Other important features of a quality diet that can help aid in natural skin care is a diet rich in fiber. This important diet component aids the digestive system and helps in the elimination of waste products.

One other important dietary item that should be found in a person’’s healthy eating should be the ingestion of good fats. This is because these good fats aid in the reproduction of cells and assist in the production of hormones and essential body chemicals. Both the reproduction of cells and assistance of the production of hormones and chemicals contribute to healthy skin.

Thanks to television, radio, and the Internet, everybody is afflicted with a barrage of too much information. And due to our hectic lives, our ability to focus, take in information, and remember it has been destroyed. This piece explores natural methods that can be used to cure the situation.

By Alan Densky

Think about this for a brief moment. As you sit there and read this document, a stream of information is coming in through your sense of sight. But you are also hearing different sounds, feeling physical feelings like the pressure of your chair touching your buttocks and back, the feeling of the clothing on your body, and the air temperature and movement on your skin. You are also in receipt of information by way of your nose in the form of aromas. And of course, you'’re taking in data in the form of the mixture of tastes on your lips and in your mouth.

And how about the emotional thoughts that you are currently experiencing? That’’s also data that you'’re processing at the moment. We exist in an information intensive world. Thanks to the Internet, almost no matter what a person might want to know is only a few clicks of a mouse away.

I recently read an article that said that even in a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere, we are bombarded by sixty thousand stimuli per second. And that’’s occurring sixty seconds out of each minute, and sixty minutes out of each hour. And it goes on twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, week in and week out for our entire life.

And that is a big part of the problem. We are all being subjected to “information overload.” And that makes it very difficult to memorize all of the data that we want to memorize or need to remember.

Very often, while we are reading, we discover that our eyes have been traversing the information on the page, while our conscious mind has been off somewhere else on a tangent. When we get to the bottom of the page, we realize that our eyes have seen the words, but we have no conscious recall of what we have just read. That’’s because our mind has been somewhere else mulling over a problem, or working out a project.

Today it’’s common to hear even young people say things like, “I'’m having a senior moment.” No matter what your age, and whether you are a student, part of the labor, or a retired person, I'’m sure that you understand what I'’m talking about. In our wild world it is very often very difficult to focus your concentration.

SO WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING SCENARIOS IS YOUR PROBLEM?

A. Your mind begins to meander as you study, and then all of a sudden you appreciate that you do not have the slightest idea what you'’ve read.

B. When you are in a social environment and new friends are introduced to you, you find that you forget their names as quickly as you hear them.

C. You remember that you have a chore to do in another room; however, as soon as you start towards the other room you totally forget what that task is.

D. You can stay alert and take in new information. But when you take a test, “Test Anxiety” overcomes you and triggers a mental block, and you are not able to call to mind the answers to the questions on the test that you really know.

Doesn''t ministering to the ill require tons of money, insurance, lots of volunteers and time? Not always! Here are 20 ideas you can put in place in 20 minutes!

By Lisa Copen

A survey recently conducted by Rest Ministries, the largest Christian organization that serves the chronically ill, asked people to “List some of the programs or resources a church could offer to make it more inviting comfortable.” Below is a sampling of some of the 800+ responses, all of which could be done in 20 minutes or less.

1. Send out encouraging emails.

2. Make sure the handicapped stalls in the restroom are functioning and clean.

3. Add padded chairs or cushions to make church easier to sit through. Room for wheelchairs is always a need and don'’t forget to include extra places for family members.

4. An open attitude for a support group like HopeKeepers. It would make me feel very special that there was an understanding of needs that are not always visible.

5. Add more disabled parking, even if they are temporary spots.

6. Educate the ushers that people arriving late may have difficulty walking or getting out of cars and will need some assistance.

7. Have some volunteers who will call the chronically ill people just to check on them when they don'’t make it to church.

8. When suppers are given, I need help getting my meal or at least understanding from others that I won'’t be able to wait in a long line.

9. Be cautious when giving people big hugs. It can topple over or hurt the person.

10. Video tape the service to and put it on a DVD, don'’t just do a live web cast. My computer doesn'’t work that well.

11. Check out the church doors. Can someone with an illness open them with ease? If not, install a mechanical button to push them open.

12. Stop telling me that if I really believed and had faith I would be healed by now. Please don'’t insist how good I look, because I know for a fact that I look terrible and miserable that day.

13. Offer me ways to serve within the church that can be performed regularly, but not on a set schedule. I really want to contribute, but I need some flexibility so that I can do a job when I feel well enough.

14. Make the sermon notes available to download and print out so I can listen later or even just review what I didn'’t catch the first time.

15. Acknowledge National Invisible Chronic Illness Awareness Week. Rest Ministries Publishers features a book list of top 100 Christian books for the chronically ill. Having some of those books in our church bookstore as a display would be a great outreach.

16. Just mention chronic illness occasionally! Don'’t forget to talk about it in sermons as one of the challenges many people face just like unemployment or divorce.

17. Have Christian volunteers from church that will clean house for small fee. Some have offered to clean my house, but I cannot accept charity yet, but neither can I afford to pay a regular house cleaning service.

18. Have the church help with some of the small costs of providing encouraging books and resources for the church library. The chronically ill often cannot afford all that they'’d like to read and will check them out.

19. Remember all of the caregivers in the church–not just caregivers of parents, but spouses and ill children as well.

20. Have copies of sermon for free on CD or computer.

If you are tired of being so dang hairy laser hair removal may be a good choice.

By Daniel Millions

Laser hair removal is a increasingly popular procedure that more individuals are beginning to enjoy the benefits from every single year. There is a wide range of advantages that can be enjoyed in using laser hair removal. One of the most beneficial advantages would be the fact that it is known to be one of the safest procedures used today for permanently removing unwanted hair.

With this type of procedure, a skilled technician is able to apply the laser that is of low-energy to various parts of the body where the individual has the unwanted growth of hair. The pulsating light that is emitted from the laser damages the hair follicles, therefore preventing further growth. The existing hair growth is carefully burnt away with the use of the laser. It is done without any damaging affects to any of the tissue or skin that is adjacent to the hair.

When a client makes the choice of using laser hair removal, before performing the hair removal procedure, the technician will generally perform a patch test first. This test is to ensure that the adequate amounts of intensity are being used, as well as the correct laser.

Another widely enjoyed benefit of using the laser hair removal procedure is the fact that the laser removal on a large area that contains unwanted hair can be performed in one sitting, instead of several.

A tremendously enjoyed benefit of this technique is the fact that anesthesia is not required for the procedure of laser hair removal, and there is very little discomfort that the individual will endure. For individuals that normally experience lower pain levels, or for those that are noticing a higher level of discomfort for certain areas of the procedure, the individual has the option of being able to use a topical anesthetic.

After several treatments have been performed on clients, as many as 95 percent of the individuals that decide to use laser hair removal, are able to enjoy the elimination of unwanted hair. Right after the procedure has been performed, some patients will notice a mild reddening to the locations that the laser treatment has been used, but it will generally disappear within a 24 hour time period. Also, within one to two weeks of receiving the laser hair removal treatments, clients can expect to shed the unwanted hairs.

There are several reasons why this procedure for hair removal is so widely chosen and sought after. There are no medications that the individual will have to take, there is no bothersome follow-up care, hospitalization is not required, and needles are not used on the clients. The fact alone of not having to take medications that can result in suffering from side effects is a huge plus to many.

In a world where individuals are increasingly becoming more and more conscientious of how well they can make their bodies look at all time. The well known procedure of laser hair removal adds is a type of procedure that a large number of people are adding to their beauty regime.

Each person’’s individual preference is what determines which areas the procedure will be done on. Any area on the body that has excessive and bothersome hair growth will work great with this type of treatment, except for the areas near the eyes.

You can live like a hairy monkey your whole life or do something about it!

Many people have fallen in love with the fantastic results of laser hair removal. When you use laser hair removal, you'’ve found a hair removal system that is 99% effective, gentle and safe. There are many benefits to using laser hair removal to remove unwanted facial or body hair. Both men and women have used laser hair removal easily and quickly to enhance their appearance.

Laser hair removal can be used by just about anyone. It used to be with the very first lasers that the “ideal” candidate had pale skin and dark hair. This would mean that the laser would notice the hair follicles quickly and could read them easily along the pale skin. However today those with lighter toned hair and darker tones of skin can use laser hair removal. What is most important is the type of laser that is used for your laser hair removal. Not every laser hair removal laser can adequately work for people of darker toned complexions. Be sure to double check before arranging your appointments, the people at the medical facility should know all about their laser.

Laser hair removal can be used on both the face and the body. Some types of hair removal do not work as well on either the face or the body; they really work only on one. Tweezing for example is an excellent natural temporary hair removal system that is ideal to remove fine hairs from your face. You certainly would not want to tweeze your leg or bikini area. However, laser hair removal works well on both the face and the body. Many customers are confident repeat customers: they have used the laser on one area of their body and now they want to use it on another are of their face or body.

Laser hair removal is a permanent solution. This is an ideal solution for permanent hair removal. Most experts consider this 99% effective, as there are times some people will need touch up appointments in some situations. However many people do not need touch up appointments, they simply go for their scheduled appointments and once this is over it is over. It is a great choice if you want that face or body hair gone.

Laser hair removal is a gentle and safe option. One of the top questions people will ask about laser hair removal is, “Does it hurt?” The best answer is that many people feel a bit of a twinge, as if someone had snapped a rubber band along your skin. For some this is a strong sensation and for other people they really don'’t feel much of anything at all. People’’s comfort thresholds are very different. Laser hair removal is also quite safe and has been used for more than twenty years. The technology has been adapted and improved over time. It has been impressive how laser hair technology has adapted as the years have gone by.

When you are seeking a hair removal alternative, laser hair removal is an excellent choice. Some people go for years waxing, plucking or shaving. These are all great options but they will only work for several days to a week at the very most. Then you are right back at the very beginning! With laser hair removal, you have permanent results with very little effort. It is awesome to think that only several weeks from now you could have all of your unwanted body and facial hair removed.

Often the basis for many jokes, Halitosis, or Bad Breath as it is most commonly known,is not only an embarrassing condition but may potentially be the evidence of a other health problems in the human body.

By Francis Hesse

Treatment for bad breath must address the source of the problem. Addressing the problem involves thorough cleaning of the mouth, throat and nasal areas. This has to be accomplished with special toothpaste, mouth rinse and nasal and throat sprays. Treatment depends on the underlying causes so eliminating the causes will in theory take care of the bad breath. However, in some cases, you may need to see a Dentist to identify the causes and treat the halitosis.

Mouth wash and fresheners make a great deal of sense. There could something especially aromatic in food that you eat away from home, or perhaps you are partial to garlic and onions. It is rare to have friends and family muster the courage to tell you that you may have halitosis, though this will not be the case with even the friendliest dentist. Mouth fresheners that you can buy without prescriptions do not constitute bad breath treatment in any case. Temporary relief is simply not good enough if the problem recurs often, or if it seems unrelated to food habits.

A dentist will need to make a thorough examination of the insides of your mouth, to determine whether you have halitosis, before deciding on a course of bad breath treatment to deal with the specifics of your case. Sometimes, just drinking water frequently, or chewing gum may suffice to deal with a dry mouth, which concentrates malodorous substances in exhaled breath. Children may often be guilty of improper brushing, though adults can be careless in this respect as well. Removing stale coating from the tongue, and dislodging pieces of food stuck between teeth, are other personal habits which may suffice by way of bad breath treatment. A dentist can also remove accumulated plaque, deal with diseases of the gums, and prescribe antibiotics, as forms of bad breath treatment.

Bad Breath Treatment beyond Your Mouth

Dentists cannot manage all cases of halitosis on their own. Gum diseases can be quite deep seated, and may need reference to a specialist in this field. However, not all cases of bad breath originate inside the mouth. A dentist may send a patient with halitosis to a physician to deal with a systemic cause. Ketones are smelly chemicals, which are excreted through urine, perspiration, and through exhaled breath as well. Ketones build up in blood to levels which result in halitosis if a person has diabetes, has been starving, or has inadequate carbohydrate intake. Ketosis can be life threatening, so halitosis may be an indication of a serious medical condition. That is why every case of persistent bad breath deserves professional attention.

Fortunately, bad breath treatment is relatively simple once the underlying cause has been determined. However, it can recur if a patient does not follow prescriptions, or change personal habits which lead to the problem. Bad breath may develop at any time, so being free of it at one point of time does not rule out the possibility of developing it later. It is best to ask an intimate friend or a member of the family to check periodically, and to keep every appointment with a dentist.

Man boobs is an embarrassing problem. You don''t need to have the yourself to realize that. If you have man boobs, or you''re just wanting to avoid them in the future, there''s some stuff you should know.

By David Towdon

Man boobs has become a growing concern. Some men are able to treat the condition without surgery, but others experience extreme cases of Gynecomastia, which leads to surgical procedures to eliminate or reduce the problem, known as man boobs. Man boobs is the enlargement of the mans breast and the condition is caused from hormonal imbalances or sometimes hormone therapy. When there is extreme cases of Gynecomastia involved, doctors often treating the condition differently than they do when man boobs is not so complicated. In this last instance, doctors recommend surgery.

Doctors may have to perform surgery, which the doctor may suggest that you adhere to some tests to rule out some other potential problems, or perhaps avoid surgery. Mammograms are used or breast X-Rays to check for possible cancer, or compositions of the breast tissue.

Once the doctor determines the amount of tissue to remove from the breast area, he will then consider surgical approaches to resolve the problem. Through the surgery the doctor may remove any tissues or fat that has formed around the breast area. Once the fat or tissues is removed, the surgeon will curve the breast so that it forms into the shape that you desire. Any excess skin is then removed as well. The doctor will ensure that your areola, which is the darker area around the nipple, is positioned and is smaller at the outer surface of the central part of the chests axis.

Complications arising from this surgery are rare and minor although with all types of surgery, there are still risks involved. Doctors will consider the risks, which include infections, skin injury, excessive bleeding, etc. Scars are also formed and sometimes even a slight difference in symmetry. Since an extreme form of Gynecomastia greatly affects a person not only physically but also emotionally and psychologically. After getting rid of the physical cause of the distress by surgery, it is also highly recommended to undergo psychological therapy to be completely healed. You may want to seek professional help from a counselor now instead of waiting until the surgery has been completed. You can check your local phone directory, or go online to find a qualified counselor in your area. Don'’t let your condition get you down so much that it causes other problems to develop. Remember, this is a medical problem and nothing more, so you can overcome man boobs without too many worries.

Surgery being an option, it should only be considered in the extreme cases. See surgery as the last way out. Other options are breast reduction pills and just plain exercising. Learn from others with the same problem, and find the best solution. Take the first step to lose man boobs by exercising.

Heart disease is one of the biggest killers of both men and women worldwide. In the Western world it is the number one cause of death in many countries. However, our knowledge of the causes and treatments of heart disease improves every year, and researchers have recently been able to add broccoli to their list of substances which can prevent patients ending up in hospital heart centers.

By Gregory Smyth

Broccoli has recently been found to reduce the risk of having a heart attack - which is excellent news for the millions of sufferers of heart disease worldwide, and expected to save thousands of lives every year. The broccoli must be raw or lightly cooked, by a method such as steaming, that preserves nutrients. The protective action comes from the antioxidant content in broccoli and other brassica vegetables - another reason for you to work on convincing your kids that broccoli really isn'’t all that bad!

The study was performed by University of Warwick researchers. The team fed an extract of steamed broccoli to rats for a period of a month, then compared the study rats to those on a standard diet. The rats who had the benefits of the broccoli extract had improved heart function, especially under heart-stressful situations such as depriving the heart of oxygen. The most common situation for the heart to be deprived of oxygen is when a heart attack occurs, so patients considered especially at risk can not only improve their general health and heart health by eating broccoli, they can also minimize the potential damage if a heart attack does occur.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death and admission to cardiac centers and hospital heart centers in the US, England, Canada and Wales. In the US alone, a person dies every 34 seconds as a result of heart disease. Conditions such a hypertension and hyperglycaemia often lead to hospitalization and visits to cardiac centers.

The broccoli actually stimulates the body to increase its own production of several antioxidant proteins. The study showed that eating broccoli is associated with up to a 73% reduction in reactive oxygen species, or free radicals. High levels of free radicals damage cells in all parts of the body, and hyperglycaemia, a condition in which blood sugar is unusually high, is known to triple reactive oxygen species levels. Even normal processes such as eating and breathing contribute to the formation of free radicals in the body, and the sulforaphane in broccoli helps fight these agents, reducing the need for cardiac surgery. The researchers noted, however, that if broccoli is overcooked it loses much of its protective effect.

Broccoli is a member of the brassica family of vegetables, also known as cruciferous vegetables. Other members of the family include cauliflower, cabbage, radish and brussel sprouts. Most of these vegetables have quite a spicy flavour, and aren'’t popular in the diet until later in life. However, the earlier that patients begin eating these vegetables, the greater their protective effect. Only broccoli is known to contain the sulforaphane which is so effective against excessive free radical levels.

The health benefits of broccoli have long been of interest to researchers, with findings like broccoli being more effective than sunscreen at protecting the skin from sun-induced cancer, an extract of broccoli sprouts protecting against bladder cancer, and phytonutrients contained in the famed vegetable being able to prevent the spread of ovarian and breast cancer, all being made in recent times.

Hospitals that combine research facilities with patient care have been glad to learn the news; it means that hospital heart centers and cardiac surgery providers can help their patients care for themselves more effectively after discharge.

Always talk to your doctor if you have any serious questions about which home remedies are safe to use for your baby. Talking to your doctor is typically a great way to learn which home remedy methods are safe and which should be avoided.

By Paul Hata

Parents are always looking for ways to help sooth their children. This is certainly nothing that is new, but there are many new parents who are often concerned that they are making a bad decision when it comes to whether it is really safe to use a home remedy for their baby.

Trying to make the best decision possible when you are a new parent is extremely frightening. There are plenty of ways that you can make a mistake, but in general, it is very important to ensure you are getting the best results and this means ensuring that your baby stays comfortable.

If you suspect that your baby has a serious ailment or is completely dehydrated then it is best to see a doctor. However, the small ailments that may plague your child are often quite easy and simple to treat with a home remedy. Just be sure that you closely monitor their condition.

Many parents who do watch serious problems develop notice rather quickly when they are in over their head. However, if you do not carefully watch your child you will find it much harder to actually tell if your child is developing further complications.

A simple home remedy using natural ingredients in small dosages is typically quite safe for babies. However, you should be very careful not to over use the remedy which could potentially cause your baby significant problems.

Always talk to your doctor if you have any serious questions about which home remedies are safe to use for your baby. Talking to your doctor is typically a great way to learn which home remedy methods are safe and which should be avoided.

It is also extremely important to ensure you carefully watch for any allergic reactions with any home remedy that you are trying. This is particularly important for babies since they cannot tell you if they are suffering a reaction. Most babies respond quite well to home remedies though, especially as long as you are careful to properly follow all of the instructions.

With home remedies for babies helping everything from teething to colic, stomachaches, and even colds there are plenty of ways to offer your child relief without having to always run to the doctor. Of course, there are some times when venturing to the doctor is essential, but you can certainly look towards home remedies to help reduce the occurrence of doctor’’s visits easily.

You will of course grow much more comfortable using home remedies with your children as your child gets older. There is little to worry about as long as you are careful though, just be certain to avoid anything that is potentially toxic especially with extremely young children. A quick trip to the doctor is quite possible, but it is certainly not a lot of fun.

A small home remedy for your baby will allow you to avoid most of the doctor’’s visits and also enable you to be absolutely certain that you are getting the proper results that you really need.

Going to the doctor is never any fun, but if you really need to take your baby to the doctor then it should be done. Always making the time to go to the doctor will ensure your baby stays healthy and also provide ample opportunity to talk to your doctor about any remedies that you are curious about.

By Paul Hata

With acid reflux causing so many significant problems for so many Americans it is very important to ensure you can find relief as quickly as possible.

What many people do not realize is that it is possible to find relief from the pain that acid reflux causes quite quickly as long as you know where to look. Of course, there are plenty of medications that you can purchase, however these tend to be extremely expensive, in addition to the fact that they are also accompanied by a large number of side effects.

This combined with a rather large price rag for all of the treatment means it can be extremely difficult to even afford the relief.

Home remedies are fabulous for acid reflux because there are several options to try out. This can range from the extremely simple, to those techniques that are a bit more advanced. In order to find the best solution for your needs it is important to ensure you try out several different methods.

This will allow you to really find which method is best for you. If you are interested in preventing acid reflux before it even starts you should seriously consider the foods that you are eating.

By adjusting your diet and omitting foods that are extremely spicy, you can typically lower the occurrence of acid reflux. However, it is also extremely important to ensure that you are not missing out on the foods that you really enjoy.

If you happen to discover that there are several foods you thoroughly enjoy which tend to aggravate then you can always try taking two teaspoons of blackstrap molasses each day. Blackstrap molasses is available at most health stores and it is extremely effective in helping to reduce the occurrence of acid reflux.

Other ways to help reduce the amount of reflux you suffer from is to reduce the size of your meals. If you are only eating two or three large meals each day, you will have significantly more difficulties lowering your symptoms.

An easy way to lower your symptoms is to break your meals down into six or even seven substantially smaller meals. By doing this, you are putting less pressure on your stomach, and helping to soothe the occurrence of acid reflux.

It is also helpful to adjust your bed a bit. If you are able to raise the angle of your bed by only 6 inches or so you can significantly reduce the amount of acid that is attempting to move up your body.

This can be extremely helpful if you are finding yourself continuously suffering symptoms while you are trying to sleep. Not everyone finds this to be helpful, but for people who suffer acid reflux symptoms while they are trying to sleep it can be a significant help.

Other suggestions to follow include looking to see if you can add more apples into your diet. If you consume an apple after each meal, it is said to substantially lower the amount of acid that you have in your stomach.

By eating more apples as well you are able to also add better foods to your diet, but it is important to ensure that you are eating the apple raw, rather than cooking it before eating.

As you can see, there are several different options available for you to help improve your overall health. Getting the most out of your life is not impossible, lowering the amount of acid reflux you suffer from really is possible, but it will take a good bit of effort on your behalf.

Acid reflux is much better handled when you are making changes to your lifestyle and using natural home remedies to treat it. The time and expense that is associated with medical treatments is never any fun. This can all be avoided simply by looking towards some extremely effective home remedies and trying to ensure that you are thoroughly satisfied with how you feel.

By Paul Hata

For the simplest issues that can be wrong there are times when a home remedy can be the perfect solution. Trying to decide if a home remedy is the best solution for your needs is something that should be determined based on your own particular situation, rather than trying to compare your situation to that of someone else.

It is also extremely important to realize that there are times when a doctor is much better equipped to handle your problem, or another professional. Trying a home remedy is all about saving money, using natural solutions and also ensuring safety.

With this in mind, it can be a lot of fun to venture off to find the perfect home remedy for whatever ails you. Just be very sure that you are looking for a home remedy that is safe.

If you are looking towards home remedies that are a bit dangerous, you could find that you are encountering a lot of complications and also putting your health in severe danger. It is extremely important to closely monitor situations to ensure that safety is a key concern but also ensure that you are giving proper attention to the remedy.

Many people swear by home remedies. They very rarely even venture to the doctor and due to this they can avoid most doctors visits, ensure that they remain healthy and also reduce the amount of medication they are required to take during their life.

It is extremely important to understand that while a home remedy can solve many problems, there are some situations, which will require a visit to the doctor. As long as you are able to safely distinguish between the situations that require a doctor’’s attention and those which can allow you to use a home remedy you can typically use the remedies quite safely.

The simple reality is that as long as you are dealing with an ailment that is rather small or minor a home remedy can be the perfect solution. It is extremely important however to ensure that you see a doctor for any serious problems.

A great home remedy can often be better than a doctor simply due to the ability to be carried out in the actual home, rather than being forced to seek treatment in a doctor’’s office, which can often be cold and unfriendly.

Being able to provide simple treatments in the home is a great way to improve your health as well, rather than having to wait until you are completely ill before seeking out treatment, many people start administering home remedies at the very first signs of problems and sickness.

With home remedies offering a much more natural treatment option than most doctors are comfortable following it can also be compared to a much greener lifestyle.

Rather than consuming potentially toxic medications, home remedies will almost always allow you to use natural ingredients that are not harmful to the body at all. This makes them extremely safe, and can also allow them to frequently be used even for young children, rather than needing a separate medication to treat children and adults.

Of course, home remedies are not for everyone, they will typically require a bit of additional time and patience in order to actually successfully treat the ailments.

As you can imagine, a home remedy can be easily modified to allow a customized solution to your specific problem. Most doctors are simply unable to devote the time and resources to providing each patient a completely customized solution.

Due to this, it can be incredibly difficult to work out all of the details that are needed when seeking treatment from a doctor. Many people find that home remedies are also much easier to fit into their schedules than trying to work out numerous doctors visits as well.

This is just another reason in the growing list why many people feel that home remedies are much better for them than a standard doctor’’s visit.

By Paul Hata

We have all been in a situation as parents at one time or another where we wished things had occurred differently. It never fails, just as everything is going badly, something else comes along and makes things substantially worse.

This is why many parents find that home remedies for children are not as effective as they would like. In order to improve the effectiveness of home remedies though there are a few things that you can do. The simplest and easiest changes that you can make will work with you wonderfully to ensure that you are able to get the biggest benefit possible. Never try to just rush into home remedies for children though, the results could be disastrous.

If you find that you are quite comfortable using home remedies you will quickly discover that you are able to treat ailments before they are serious. However, for the vast majority of parents, especially new parents you are not extremely comfortable with the idea of home remedies.

This is perfectly acceptable, you should never push yourself to use a home remedy for your child that you are not comfortable with. Taking some time to slowly increase your comfort level, as well as talking to your pediatrician about any questions that you might have could be a great way to proceed.

For most new parents especially it is extremely scary to use a home remedy. A good place to start though is with home remedies that are extremely simple and only pertain to small ailments.

Never attempt a home remedy that you are uncomfortable with, especially if you are a new parent and are concerned about the actual health of your baby. The simplest home remedies to do for very young children tends to be those that revolve around colds, splinters, diaper rash and other similar problems.

Attempting to treat a serious ailment, such as an ear infection can lead to some serious complications and should be avoided unless absolutely necessary. By knowing which ailments are best to treat with home remedies as new parents it will be much easier to find the results that you really want.

Never should you attempt any home remedy that you have not researched yourself though. This is extremely important, particularly with babies. You must take the time to actually do some thorough research to ensure that what you are going to give your child is healthy. This can be an enormous safety concern, but should always be followed through upon to ensure you are as safe as possible for your child.

While most parents do start to become much more comfortable using home remedies as their child grows older you should never feel as if you are pressured to do anything. As the parent, you can decide if you want to seek the help of a doctor or seek out the help of a home remedy.

The ultimate choice will be entirely up to you, most of the time after you have tried a few simple remedies with your children your comfort level will expand enough to allow you to start moving onto the more advanced remedies, but this should only be done as you see fit.

With a carefully planned out home remedy you will be quite excited over your ability to help your child and avoid as many doctor’’s offices as possible.

If you are struggling to obtain the desired results you might be unknowingly making a few mistakes that can significantly impact your success rate. In order to improve your success it is extremely important that you take some time to really do your research before getting started.

The remedies that do not necessarily work for you are not necessarily useless, but there are some facto
