Depending on what kind of bass you are fishing for, you will need a varying degree of strength, determination and dedication.

By MIKE SELVON

Bass fishing takes determination, dedication and some strength depending on what kind of bass you are going after. These fish, classified as sunfish, can be found almost anywhere nationwide. Because of the skill needed to hook and reel these fish in, bass fishing is somewhat of a sport.

While most fishermen who go looking for bass catch them and then release them, some people do catch them and use them for their dinner that night. No matter what reason you or someone you know may have for taking up bass fishing, there are plenty of bass fishing clubs to join.

These clubs are not just for male fishermen, but there are clubs dedicated solely to younger people and women. There are clubs on a national level, state level and some on a very localized level. Some are specialized for a certain type of bass fishing, such as largemouth bass and smallmouth bass, while others cover the sport and the skill.

Being a club member is also a great way for avid bass anglers to find out about joining a bass tournament. All clubs have benefits for those who do decide to join up and no two clubs are the same. There are so many available in almost every state in the country that it would be difficult for a bass fishing enthusiast to not find a bass fishing club to join.

Before you join a club, you should look into it to see whether it meets your needs and expectations. If you just want to join up with other small time fishermen who simply bass fish for fun, then you will want one of the local free clubs that are so easy to find.

However, if you wish to meet other serious, and sometimes professional bass fishermen, then look into one of the competitive clubs. You will need to pay some annual dues to professional bass fishing clubs and there is often an application process.

The size of the organization can make a difference also. If you are looking for more one-on-one attention and mentoring, perhaps a smaller group would work out better for you. For that kind of attention you will want to make sure that the mentors and leaders are dedicated and have the time to perform those duties.

For those professionals who want to enter competitions nationwide, a large and perhaps national group would suit your needs best. Usually larger bass fishing clubs tend to have more funds to provide more benefits for their members.

By Ann Knapp

For Americans in landlocked areas, it may be easy to forget how central fishing is to the world’’s economies and cultures. So feast on this whopper of a statistic: two hundred million people owe their jobs (directly or indirectly) to fisheries. No wonder, then, that per capita, we each eat over twenty-one kilograms of fish per year. That’’s a lot of brain food.

And, perhaps most impressively of all, according to one estimate, there are thirty-eight million fishers in the world.

But for a large minority of those thirty-eight million people, the journey to the lake or stream in search of a big fish (or a big fish story) does not have to do with livelihood or survival: it has to with recreation. (Put another way: they don'’t fish to survive, they fish to live.) Though humans have been fishing since at least the Paleolithic period (forty thousand years ago), and though fishing was one of the first activities to allow for permanent human settlements in certain areas (thus giving us an alternative to the roving hunter-gatherer lifestyles of the earliest people), people have fished for sport since at least the middle ages. A 1496 treatise on fishing for fun was one of the first English works to roll off of a printing press. The sport really took off during the late Renaissance period, and even gave rise to one of the classics of early modern English prose, Izaak Walton’’s The Compleat Angler.

Walton argued that fishing - as his subtitle had - a contemplative man’’s recreation (”or woman’’s,” we would add). Millions of people since the seventeenth-century book’’s publication have agreed. Fly fishing, after all, first developed among the English aristocrac - not among people who needed the fish to survive. And though fishing hasn'’t had the gentried associations in America that it may have had in Europe, it remains a site where people compete with each other, tell stories (”There was this one I caught last summer”), contemplate nature, and get away from the daily grind - an activity with its own dedicated subculture, as well as its unique and irreplaceable value in the larger culture. (Just think of all the intellectuals and writers who valued the time to think and spiritual clarity that fishing afforded them, or the great books that fish hunts have inspired: Moby-Dick; The Old Man and the Sea; Deliverance; A River Runs Through It.)

A would-be fisher’’s initiation to the sport should probably begin with a trip to the library - to learn about nearby streams, lakes and waterways in your area, the kinds of fish available (nature guidebooks are a good bet), and the laws regulating fishing in your area.

After that, you'’ll want to consider buying or borrowing a rod. (Some fishing resorts will offer equipment for rent; beginners may want to avail themselves of this option, since nothing is more annoying than a closetful of expensive sports equipment that you never get around to using. Why not find out if you like the sport before you buy the accoutrements?) Fiberglass fishing rods are often recommended for newcomers to the sport. They don'’t cost as much a bamboo or graphite rods, and they don'’t break easily. (Graphite affords extra agility - and a corresponding fragility - for those experienced fishers who need it.) Rods vary in length as well as material, but the rule of thumb is: short, flexible rods for places where you can'’t cast your line too far (because of overhanging tree branches, perhaps); long rods for uninterrupted water with moderate winds; short semi-stiff rods if you'’re after big tough fish.
As for baits, lures, and tackle, well, the options are too wide to generalize about. Everything depends on the kind of fish that can be caught in the area you intend to explore. (That’’s why I recommended you start with a trip to the library.)

A word about catch-and-release: as more and more fishers realize the importance of keeping worldwide fisheries well-stocked, they are increasingly opting to throw fish back into the water upon catching them (expediently enough to ensure the fish’’s survival). For sport fishers, this is increasingly a requirement of ethical fishing: after all, if you don'’t need the protein, why deplete an already-depleted stream?

It is always good to spend time to unwind after a tiring and stressful office works.
But if you really want a more physically challenging outdoor adventure, you may also consider hunting. Hunting refers to the act of pursuing animals to capture them or kill them for consumption or business related activities like selling. In early civilization, hunting was an essential human exercise because this is necessary as medium of survival. It was the prime source of getting food and clothing and other necessities. Today, however, hunting can be pointed to regulated and legal hunting games. Hunted animal creatures are referred to as game animals, which are commonly pointing large mammals or migratory birds.

Find out more about aluminum fishing boat in this article.

By Fidens Felix

Fishing boat styles and types come in various forms nowadays. Each has its own use and specifications with their own advantages. An aluminum fishing boat is one of these. The size of an aluminum fishing boat can be as small as 10 foot but can go up to a huge 24 foot long on some specialized models. The shape of aluminum boats can come in both flat, V shape designs and also in a pontoon style. An aluminum fishing boat can be used as a charter fishing boat when you simply want to rent out a boat for the day or weekend.

Advantages of Aluminum Boats

While there are merits shared by any type of fishing boat out there; the aluminum fishing boat has some advantages all to itself. With the greatest competition comes from fiberglass boats, the aluminum boat has many thousands of fans thanks to their merits:

1. Aluminum fishing boat can be customized and painted to become just about any other kind of boat you desire.

2. Aluminum boats are preferred for most man made lakes, because of their rugged build and can resist being punctured by underwater trees and other submerged items.

3. Aluminum boats are resistant to rust, decay and drips. Many aluminum fishing boat can be used for decades.

4. The ability to repair or fix aluminum boats is rather easy. Most repairs are done with welding or hammering out dings and dents.

5. Aluminum boats are fuel efficient because they are light weight. If you run out of fuel, they are also easier to row than most other types of boat.

6. An aluminum fishing boat can be carried by one person depending on the size of the boat. Most other boats, made from fiberglass need five people just to move it around with more amounts of time and energy.

7. An aluminum fishing boat can be customized by the user to gain the best function from the boat that is wanted by the user.

Demerits of Aluminum Boats

While there are many merits of using an aluminum fishing boat, like anything else there are also disadvantages as well:

1. An aluminum fishing boat is not good for use when there is bad weather approaching. Lightning can easily strike the boat and people who on it.

2. Aluminum is not good for salt water fishing because the salt is corrosive and will eat away at the rivets. This will eventually cause the aluminum boat to leak or crack.

3. Aluminum fishing boats are not as flexible as fiberglass boats when it comes to shaping and customizing the boat.

4. Aluminum fishing boats are not as sleek on the water as fiberglass boats and tend to plow the water as opposed to pushing it aside. This allows some water to get into the boat from the splash.

5. Aluminum boats do not run as smoothly on water as fiberglass and tend to give riders a funky ride.

6. Aluminum boats can not carry as much fuel as their fiberglass counterpart. Therefore extra fuel cans are needed for any long trips away from shore.

It all depens on your use to make an aluminum fishing boat a better or worse choice. Make your choice wisely.

If you buy right you can, if effect, get your aluminum fishing boat for free.

By Peter Clark

So you love fishing, and you want to get your own fishing boat. You'’ve got a lot of choices to make, including choosing a boat. Why should you buy an aluminum boat instead of, say, a fiberglass boat?

You'’ll find that you have a wealth of choices for buying boats. You can get, primarily, wooden or timber fishing boats, fiberglass boats and aluminum boats. All make fine boats, and for looks my choice is a timber fishing boat. Timber boats look great. They'’re often varnished so you can see the color and grain of the timber, and are hand made usually, so they have style. A timber fishing boat is a fine looking item.

But when you'’re thinking of buying a boat for fishing, it isn'’t really looks that count. Of course great looks are nice, but you need a boat that’’s tough, hard wearing, and long lasting, and doesn'’t take up lots of your precious fishing time on maintenance.

A timber boat is high maintenance. Trust me, I'’ve had quite a few. You'’re always sanding timber, varnishing timber, repairing timber and lots more. Now if you'’re happy to be doing that then that’’s great, but recognize that’’s the price you pay for a great looking timber fishing boat. And a timber boat is often heavy, and will not last well, particularly if you aren'’t as diligent with your maintenance as you could be. And they puncture easily when you hit something, as I did last week.

But if you'’re not an enthusiast for working on boats then timber isn'’t your best choice.

What you want in a fishing boat is this. It needs to be tough. It needs to be low maintenance. It needs to be puncture resistant. It needs to last forever without spending hours working on it. It needs to be easily repairable. And it needs to be cost effective.

For me the best choice fishing boat is an aluminum fishing boat. Aluminum has properties which make it the perfect material for building fishing boats. It is very light and strong for it’’s weight, and can be easily welded, so is ideal for both building and repairing. It is extremely long lasting, and is very resistant to puncture. Now of course that doesn'’t mean it can'’t be damaged, as it can. But you need to hit it pretty hard to do some serious damage. And if you did that to a timber or fiberglass boat it will be very seriously damaged. And an aluminum boat may just dent, rather than fracture, so you can head right back home with nothing more to show than a dent, instead of possibly be the subject of a rescue from a sinking boat.

And it lasts forever if treated right. If you get a great aluminum fishing boat and treat it well you may well find yourself leaving it to your kids.

Because aluminum boats are light for their strength they often need a smaller engine, and the engine is probably the highest cost item. A smaller engine costs less, and uses less fuel.

And with a smaller engine they are also lighter and easier to handle.

And they require little maintenance. Make sure you hose your boat down after a day out, especially in saltwater, and if you drop a lead sinker make sure you pick it up, as it’’s not great to leave any other metal in contact with aluminum, otherwise you don'’t need to do too much maintenance at all. More fishing time.

And because aluminum boats last so well they also retain their resale value well. I bought a used aluminum fishing boat 2 years ago and it is currently worth a little more than I paid for it.

So there’’s plenty of good reasons to buy an aluminum fishing boat. Unfortunately they aren'’t cheap if you want to buy a new boat, but for the same reasons I'’ve mentioned above, it’’s way better to buy a used aluminum boat, as a used boat is usually much cheaper than a new one, and retains it value well. I would never buy a new aluminum boat.

So grab yourself a great used aluminum fishing boat and get fishing this summer, it’’s the best way to get on the water.

Don''t forget these essential items when going on your first camping trip!

By Mariam Ma

Let’’s face it, not everyone is built for camping. But you'’ve decided to make a go of it because someone invited you or it’’s a family outing and you can'’t say no. You'’ve never camped before and you'’re feeling nervous. The best way to make the most out of these situations is to be prepared. There’’s no sense in making things more challenging than it has to be.

Preparing for a camping trip is just like preparing for any other trip. You will need to know the resources you have available. For instance, will you be driving to a camp site where you can use your vehicle for storage or will you be backpacking? Obviously, in one scenario you can pile on more luxuries, and in the other scenario you'’ll need to be more selective in your choices.

It is always a good idea to write out what you require but here are the must haves on any camping trip:

First aid kit
Cash, credit cards, checks
Water - either bottled water or a water purifier
Food - canned or dehydrated or meals ready to eat (civilian MRE)
Waterproof matches or a butane lighter
Multipurpose tool such as a Swiss army knife
Flashlight and batteries
Wind up radio

The above items describe what should be in an emergency survival kit and it’’s always a good idea to do dry runs and what better way to check the inventory than by going camping ‘’ just make sure you replenish the items. Depending on the type of camping you'’re doing, you will work around the emergency kit as the foundation.

Instead of adding items haphazardly to what you will be bringing camping, make multiple lists depending on groupings. Groupings can include a list for toiletries, clothing, shelter, cooking tools, food and water supplies and other miscellaneous items. Here are examples for each list.

Toiletries

Toothbrush, toothpaste
Toilet paper
Shampoo, soap
Comb, brush
Mirror
Towels
Deodorant

Clothing

Rain gear
Extra clothing
Boots
Nightwear
Swimwear

Shelter

Tent, tent poles, stakes
Tarp
Ground cloth
Hammer, shovel
Sleeping bags
Lantern

Cooking Tools

Pots and pans
Camp stove
Fuel, lighter fluid, charcoal
Spatula
Plates, cups
Utensils
Coolers

Food and Water Supplies

Meats, fruits and vegetables
Canned food
Can opener
Meals Ready to Eat
Bottled jugs
Water purification tablets
Water pump system

Miscellaneous Items

Hunting, fishing licenses
GPS
Keys
Insect repellent

The above lists serve only as examples and should be customized according to your camp surroundings. Furthermore, always remember to leave notice of your whereabouts and when you'’ll be expected back to family members not accompanying you on the trip.

When a camping trip is well planned out, it makes for a more enjoyable experience for all involved!

By Bercle George

At present, there are more and more individuals trying to learn and find out what the buzz is all about. Bass fishing is not just catching a fish. Its now about getting those prized big bass and having the chance to show it off. For beginners there are a lot more to bass fishing that meets the eye.

To start of, try to know the lures that you must have to enjoy bass fishing.

Do you know what the top 3 lures for catching Bass are? Although there was no specific gauge that was presented by the researchers, a survey was performed among the pro bass fishermen and it was determined that plastic worms was the most patronized and ranking on the second and third place were the spinner bait and then the crank bait.

But, picking one of these 3 is not enough. More factors are still needed to be taken into consideration. Primarily, you must consider if it is better to cover a smaller segment of water thoroughly or skim across a bigger area as quickly as possible to find fish. Making use of worms is slower, but certainly very effective and is very seductive to Bass. They do best when the fish are schooled over a particular structure.

The constraint that usually arise with fishing with a worm is the inability to sense strikes. Usually the inability to sense them is due to a sinker that is too heavy and a line that is too thick.

To help you to overcome this constraint you are advised to make use of a variable buoyancy worm using lead strip sinkers. Here listed are some of its advantages:

1)No moving lead on the line to dampen the feel of a gentle pickup
2)You can apply the precise amount of lead to deliver the worm action needed
3)It makes it easier for a bass to inhale the worm
4)It aids in hook setting
5)It is easier to shake loose from snags
6)You can cause the worm to hang virtually suspended over the bottom when fishing shallow water.

To tell how much lead strip is required, wrap one strip around the hook and bury the barb in the worm. Ease it into the water and watch as it sink, it should barely settle toward the bottom. If it sinks fast, take some off, etc. Make it sure to use no heavier than 8-pound mono line - preferably 6 pound.

On the other hand, a spinner bait can be moved more quickly across the surface and can be bounced on the bottom, sent against a tree limb and moved in several ways in order to stimulate strikes. It is a great probing lure for the shoreline because of its tangle-free design.

If you want to feel less fearful and more confident on the river it''s worth taking the time to visualize yourself feeling good and making the moves you want to make.

By Anna Levesque

Although white water kayaking does require some physical strength and technical skill, the real key to success in the sport is mental prowess. Learning to paddle the kayak and read the water are often easier than learning how to focus and to not let your fear overwhelm you. Since the level of fear affects your physical and technical performance, it’’s important to have tools that can help you feel confident in your ability. Visualization is a very effective tool for improving your performance, increasing your confidence and reducing the effects of fear.

Some paddlers don'’t even take the time to stretch or warm-up before heading down the river. They'’re after the adrenaline rush and they just want to go and do it. To these paddlers the thought of setting aside time to sit still and visualize may seem like too big of a time commitment, but it only takes 10-15 minutes to transform your performance on the river. Visualization is a technique that’’s used successfully by countless high performance athletes. If it works for accomplished athletes it can work for you too!

Here’’s how to get started: Find a quiet place where you can sit by yourself and not be disturbed for 10 to 15 minutes. Sit in any comfortable cross-legged sitting position, close your eyes and start to focus on your breath. Bring your attention to the tips of the nostrils where your breath enters and leaves the body. Become aware of how your breath feels and pay attention to the spaces between your exhalations and inhalations. Breathe in and out through your nose relaxing the body and the mind.

Once you feel very relaxed imagine yourself on your favorite river about to run a rapid that challenges you or maybe that you'’ve never run before. See yourself taking deep breaths in the eddy and relaxing. Now focus on a thought of gratitude for the skills that you have, for the opportunity to be on the river, for your friends who are on the water with you-whatever makes you feel good at the time. Invite the feeling of knowing that you have the skills to make the move you'’re about to make. See yourself peeling out of the eddy and making the move successfully with perfect timing. Focus on the sense of accomplishment and excitement that you feel at the bottom of the rapid having just run your line confidently.

Repeat this practice as often as you can and see where it takes you. Then when you find yourself in the actual eddy above the rapid you can take a deep breath and remember all of those good feelings and moves you'’ve practiced in your mind. This will allow you to feel relaxed and confident in your ability. You'’ve already run the rapid successfully several times in your mind so you know exactly what to do.

Another way to visualize is to do it as you lie in bed before you go to sleep. This only works if you don'’t fall asleep as soon as you start to visualize! Go through the same motions of focusing on your breath, relaxing and visualizing yourself running the rapid successfully. It’’s important to focus on the feelings of confidence, accomplishment and joy that you feel while visualizing. The better you feel the easier it will be to tap into those feelings when you'’re actually on the water.

There are many ways to visualize. These are just a few ways that have been successful for me. Once you get more comfortable with visualization you can transform it into a process that is unique to you that best helps you optimize your performance on the river. Breath, relax and paddle well!

Why is the 30-30 Winchester so popular after 100 years? Here''s a few reasons this Author has to throw out.

By Bill Miller

Why is the 30-30 Winchester so popular even after 100 years? Well, that’’s an easy question if you'’ve ever used one. If you haven'’t, here’’s a few reasons!

For one thing, the rifles that are chambered for the 30-30 are inexpensive when compared to other rifles chambered for other rounds. It’’s not uncommon to find a Model 94 Winchester or Marlin 336 in good shape at a Pawn Shop for under $200.

These guns are capable of producing acceptable accuracy for deer hunting out to 100 yards or more with a little practice.

Ammo for the 30-30 is generally a few bucks (no pun intended) cheaper than other ammo as well.

The light recoil of rifles chambered for the 30-30 Winchester make them desirable for new Hunters, Women and those who only shoot a rifle a few times a year not to mention those Hunters that are sensitive to recoil.

Finally, the round itself is a solid round. I think it’’s safe to say the 30-30 Winchester has probably taken everything that walks North America.

The 150 and 170 Grain bullets carry enough punch to do a Deer in at ranges out to around 200 yards. Personally, if I knew there would be a chance of a shot like that, I'’d use the 170 grain bullet or the new Hornady LeveRevolution.

For those of you who have not heard about the LeveRevolution, they are a polymer spire pointed bullet designed to be used in tubular magazines. The tip is soft and collapses. Hornady and a few Gun Writers have been reporting exceptional accuracy out to 250 yards with these new rounds.

Hunters using the Winchester 30-30 have several choices when it comes to ammo.

Remington offers the 125 grain Accelerator and most ammo manufacturers offer both the 150 and 170 grain factory loads. I'’ve always preferred the 170 grain offerings over the 150 grainers. Don'’t ask me why, I just prefer the heavier bullet. The LeveRevolution comes in a 160 grain spire tip.

Many so called Professional Gun Writers over the years have put down the little Thutty Thutty, saying things like it wasn'’t adequate out past 75 yards, that it wasn'’t accurate enough for deer hunting, etc. It was obvious that they had never shot a 30-30 or had just borrowed one in order to write an article.

I have a theory of why blunt tipped bullets in rounds like the 30-30 Winchester kill deer better than what many Gun Writers would like.

I believe that a blunt tipped bullet, be it a round nose or flat nose, delivers more of its kinetic energy upon impact than spire tipped bullets. Even the poly tipped bullets have to penetrate a certain depth before the start expanding and delivering their load of kinetic energy. Truth be known, many of spire pointed bullets use up the majority of their kinetic energy in the dirt on the other side of the animal.

Blunt tipped bullets are also known to penetrate deep. Couple this with the shock due to the sudden impact of a blunt tipped bullet and you have a recipe for a quick kill on a game animal.

Whether you contemplating buying a rifle for a first time hunter, or buying a rifle for yourself, don'’t count out the Winchester 30-30 and the Rifles it is chambered for. They'’re perfect for the first time hunter or the Old Fart who just wants a lighter hunting rifle. Put a quality scope on the top of the rifle and you'’ll have a life long rifle that will bring home the Venison if the shooter does their job!

By Uchenna Ani-Okoye

However, many cheap paintball guns belong in the trashcan, not on the playing field. Renting is a very good option for new players and most paintball facilities will rent a one for a nominal fee. Each type of action will cause the paintball guns to react differently.

While some paintballers are patient enough to sit and wait for long periods, there is always the crazy man on campus. Smart Parts has also made the trigger easier to adjust than most paintball guns. There is a very wide variety of paintball guns from expensive to cheap, and some very good cheap ones and you want to find the ones that you are comfortable with.

The later is by far the most popular among paintball players. In a forest, there are many tiny branches that can break paintballs, thus stopping them from reaching their target. These two types of propulsion systems give the paintball marker the burst of compressed air that it needs to propel the paintball long distances.

You don'’t have to be a paintball expert to encourage someone. But once Steve and Sally began to dig into the options they realized that their groups could do everything from shoot paintballs at each other, do a scavenger hunt, solve crimes, scale walls and climb ropes courses, go kayaking or canoeing, ride horses or cook a four-course meal. This is true of paintball and equally true of airsoft.

In fact, the latest study discovered that there are about 12 million paintballers around the world with 104 countries participating in a variety of paintball tournaments. There are three basic types of actions that you should look for when it comes to an affordable paintball gun. Wear comfortable clothing that is appropriate for the paintball game.

The sport of paintball however does not have to be expensive and it’’s a ton of fun, as well. 6mm paintballs are always an option, but they can break in the barrel, and that causes problems. I personally saw a man with two paintball guns, each with two tubes extending from the guns to the back co2 tanks.

The daytime activities include dragon boat racing, horse riding, paintball, quad bike treks, clay pigeon shooting, blind fold driving, archery wonders and so on. Some people have made advanced apparatuses where co2 is on their backs, and a tube from the paintball gun coils around into the tank on their back. There are many reasons, but the most outstanding of them is paintballing.

The formerly simple matter of chasing down an opponent has been replaced by a paintball speeding out towards an opponent at over 270 miles per hour. Any paintballer, from amateur to experienced, knows that the number one thing that stands out in the woods is that pitch-black helmet, followed closely by the bulbous black hopper or black paintball gun. You can also get paintball and luminous bbs if you really want to test your rifle out.

The only downside here is that if an airsoft paintball breaks inside the gun you'’ll have to completely strip it down to clear out the gunk inside. If it’’s not set up correctly it will be offline and even at short air rifle, airsoft and paintball ranges this is going to throw your accuracy right off. My friend thought of the paintball gun as a toy.

By Uchenna Ani-Okoye

I don'’t care about all those other crafts and DIY projects; learn knitting and you can kiss those paintballs goodbye. These paintballs are the standard 6mm airsoft pellet size but there’’s a difference. One of the most popular brands of paintball marker manufacturers out there today is Tippmann and Smart Parts Ion.

Each type of action will cause the paintball guns to react differently. Anyways, it is clear that airsoft beats paintball in manoeuvrability. A day of paintball is a great way to get youth involved in fundraising.

After each paintball game, clean your gun. The effective range of most paintball guns is well under fifty yards, and at that distance, you'’re faced with two options to avoid being seen. In this sense, game play can differ, but people use paintball guns for re-enactments as well (just not as often).

Yes, off the shelf stock barrels at 12″ may need to be upgraded with after-market paintball barrels of around 14″. Paintball supply is a general term that is equivalent to “paintball store” or sponsor. My friend won the first game (there were six total games) because I ran out of ammo (which wasn'’t fair; as I said, he had extra paintballs in his belt, while I was playing with only the balls in my hopper.

A summertime paintballer will choose his ghillie suit based largely on his resistance to heat. Several different kinds of paintball gear guns or markers are available depending on skill level. This gun sells for less than $300 and is affordable by most paintball enthusiasts.

Even if you purchase an army paintball gun or angel paintball, you'’re still going to find O-rings that break or bolt that bend, or they will scratch easily. For the casual paintball player however CO2 is cheaper and easier to get than HPA. However, many cheap paintball guns belong in the trashcan, not on the playing field.

Unlike snow boarding goggles or even industrial safety goggles, paintball mask-goggles are specifically designed, and regulated, to provide injury protection from impacts from a paintball travelling at around 270 miles per hour. It may serve to alleviate worries to know that most professional paintball facilities and game field owners lower that speed or velocity to about two hundred eighty feet a second, just to be on the safe side. Paintball doesn'’t have to be that expensive, and if you know what you need before you shop, you'’ll save yourself both time and money.

It is so nice to meet someone else who is also interested in playing paintball. Believe it or not, there are rules to playing a game of paintball and breaking them is frowned upon. A high pressure air tank system of paintball marker propulsion offers both greater accuracy and velocity, so if you'’re a regular player and serious about your game, this is your best bet.

However, this is paintball. Atop of the line model can cost up to a thousand dollars, but for most players, the lower price range paintball gun is more than adequate for most playing needs. If your store sells paintball and airsoft guns your better served by a membership that sells content to the hobby crowd.

Renting is a very good option for new players and most paintball facilities will rent a one for a nominal fee. In a forest, there are many tiny branches that can break paintballs, thus stopping them from reaching their target.

When it comes to fly fishing in Idaho, vacations spent on the South Fork of the Snake River definitely top the list. The river starts in Yellowstone National Park and flows straight to the Palisades Reservoir via Grand Teton National Park. The South Fork is the portion of the Snake River that runs between the Palisades Dam and Henry’’s Fork. This is the perfect combination of big fish, great scenery, and nearby Jackson Hole lodging.

The Best Time For South Fork Fly Fishing

Fly fishing in the area begins from the last week of June to the first week of July with the appearance of the Salmon flies, Yellow Sallies, and Golden Stones. Late autumn is the favorite time to fish for many of the local fisherman since water levels are considerably lower than in the spring.

This gives anglers the chance to wade in new areas from Yellowstone National Park to Henry’’s Fork. The fish are ready to put up a good fight by this part of the season. In the winter, there is some shore fishing, but actually wading in the cold river isn'’t recommended. You will want to check the local fishing regulations to learn which portions of the river are closed.

All is not lost on the days the fish simply aren'’t biting. Bringing a spinning rod and reel along with a good lure will almost guarantee a successful fishing trip. The quiet days are also the perfect opportunity to get away from your Jackson Hole lodging and enjoy some of the wildlife travelling through the area. Moose, elk, and eagles are just some of the animals that peek out from the forest.

Gear Tips For South Fork Fly Fishing

Since many of the brown trout in the river weigh over ten pounds, stick to a four to five weight rod in the beginning of the South Fork fly fishing season. Tackle, on the other hand, should depend on what you see along the shoreline. Early in the season, use Salmon fly patterns such as Birds Stone and Hairy Mary on a size 4-8 hook. Nymphs such as Girdle Bugs, Stonefly Nymphs, and Black Rubberlegs can also provide you with an afternoon of aggressive fish. Fly patterns such as South Fork Sallies and Yellow Stimulators imitate the Yellow Sallies that appear at this time as well.

The later part of July and early August bring mayflys and Pale Morning Duns begin to appear. Use size 14 in July and slowly move to an 18 hook by the end of September. Try patterns such as Pink Cahill Parachute, Biot Dun, and Wooly Buggers. This is also a great time to break out the caddis like Elk Hair and Hemingway patterns. When it comes to fishing in the late fall (from August to October) think hoppers, Blue-winged Olives, and Royal Wulff in sizes ranging from 18-20.

South Fork fly fishing is some of the best in North America. The river is close to Jackson Hole lodging, Yellowstone National Park, and has plenty of large cutthroat, brown, and rainbow trout. For year-round fishing adventures, this is definitely the place to go.

By Uchenna Ani-Okoye

It may be cooking classes, treasure hunt games, paintball, clay pigeon shooting, themed parties or any other kind of entertainment inspiring the team spirit among the participants. Mastery of these skills will assure that the paintball player can dominate the game. Anyways, the shot did sting quite a bit (about the same as a paintball, actually), but I didn'’t mind.

If you are young and just plan on getting used to the concept of shooting a paintball gun you can get away with a manual paintball marker. The sport of paintball however does not have to be expensive and it’’s a ton of fun, as well. However, this is paintball.

This was the last game, so I wasn'’t feeling conservative with my paintballs. A paintball is made of a round capsule that’’s filled with non-toxic and wash-out substances, more scientifically known as polyethylene glycol, or what is officially described in the American Heritage dictionary as, “any of a family of colourless liquids with high molecular weight that are soluble in water and in many organic solvents and are used in detergents and as emulsifiers and plasticizers. Along with the gun modifications, he had camouflage clothing, and a belt which had slots for extra CO2 and paintball/ammo cylinders.

My friend thought of the paintball gun as a toy. From rafting to paintball to a survival trip, special team building days are on offer that encourages the individual members to work together in order to succeed, to increase self-esteem and to have a good laugh together, which is always helpful. Each type of action will cause the paintball guns to react differently.

Your paintball gun has to be able to withstand running, dropping, bumping and rough treatment. It may serve to alleviate worries to know that most professional paintball facilities and game field owners lower that speed or velocity to about two hundred eighty feet a second, just to be on the safe side. For those who choose to purchase their own paintball gear, including paintball “gun”, tanks, and protective headgear and clothing, prices range from about
$100-$1,000 depending on what you want.

However, many cheap paintball guns belong in the trashcan, not on the playing field. Several different kinds of paintball gear guns or markers are available depending on skill level. A paintball marker is also known as a paintball gun and they come in many different brands and styles.

If nothing else, it never hurts to absorb wisdom from the experts, so that you will know what you are doing and have more confidence as you go further and further into the paintball world. Skiing equipment can be rented for all winter sports that are catered to at Lost Valley Resort, including ski equipment, snowboarding equipment, mountain bikes, and paintball equipment. I know of a successful paintball company, which operates in the UK in summer.

Most of the time, paintball guns have more parts than airsoft guns, and they may be more costly to repair, but crucial problems rarely occur in either gun type. Paintball fields are available with both indoor and outdoor settings and cost only about $10-$80 a day if equipment is rented. Believe it or not, there are rules to playing a game of paintball and breaking them is frowned upon.

Paintball players agree that they have experienced many trials, hardships, failures, and defeat before they were able to seize the sport of paintball. The sport is immensely popular among teens and young adults, and many spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on paintball equipment, especially the paintball marker.

A sports profile on the rowing, canoeing and kayaking events of the Olympics.

By Mariam Ma

When the Olympic Games roll around every four years, people start watching sporting events that they normally would have no interest in. Sure, there are some glamor events like track and field, swimming and gymnastics but more often than not, people stay glued to the television set when these competitions are not broadcasting. Part of it is due to country pride and another part is due to the sports drama unfolding. In order to shed some light on the lesser known events, here’’s a sports profile of the rowing, canoeing and kayaking events at the Summer Olympics.

Rowing, canoeing and kayaking are all events that take place outdoors on open waters where the objective is to power your vessel through the appointed distance in the fastest time. The vessel, the number of crew members, and the method of human propulsion is different in each discipline.

In rowing, the athletes compete as singles, doubles, fours, or eights. They sit in the boat (shell) backward facing and use either scull oars or sweep oars. In scull rowing, the athlete has an oar in each hand. In sweep rowing, the rower has only one oar. For navigational balance, sweep rowing is paired in teams of twos, fours and eights. Olympic scull rowing also includes a coxwain in the eights event whose job is to steer and direct the crew. Moreover, the Olympics also added a lightweight event in the men and women double sculls to increase participation worldwide. There is also lightweight quad sculls but the event is restricted to men only.

Both the canoeing and kayaking events have where the athletes face forward in the boat with one oar. The canoeists paddle using a single bladed oar on both sides of the boat whereas the kayakers use double bladed paddles to cut through the water. Both disciplines have events on flatwater and also slalom courses.

On flatwater, canoeists and kayakers compete in singles, doubles and fours over distances of 500 and 1000 meters. In the canoeing events the athletes are kneeling in the boat whereas they are seated in the kayaks.

In the slalom events, the athletes go downstream and upstream navigating through gates on a man-made river. If a gate is touched, it adds 2 seconds to the time. If a gate is missed entirely, 50 seconds is added to the finish time. The events are single kayak slalom for men and women. However, for canoe slaloms, only the men compete in singles and tandems.

There you have a summary of the rowing, canoeing and kayaking events being at the Summer Olympics. Here’’s to cheering on your country!

Camping together as a family can be a neat adventure, a lot of fun and a prime opportunity to bring the family closer together. A lot of families love to camp but really miss the lack of comfort that sometimes comes along with camping.

By Chris Jensen

If comfort is an issue for you, family camping tents may be able to help you. The tents are large, comfortable and provide a much more secure feeling while camping. Family camping should be a great opportunity for fun for the entire family, but sometimes it does not quite work out that way. Sometimes, with everyone staying in confined spaces, tempers can flare and the good times are diminished.

Family camping tents may be able to solve this problem for you as all of them come with more than one room. In fact, depending on the model of tent you choose, some even have four individual rooms. The great thing about having more than one room is getting some much needed away time, a place where the children can be together to play or rest, a place to read and just relax while still being part of the same overall family tent.

Initially, family camping tents were designed with only a front door which was problematic as all entry and exit was through the same door. Today, there are tents with both front and back doors, making the camping experience far more enjoyable for the entire family. A lot of family camping tents you will find may also provide a lot of room to store things, which was another big issue for families and camping. This could include potential items for storage such as books, musical equipment, lighting gear, fishing ear, clothing, and other items.

Another great feature is that family camping tents can be procured with an entrance in the front as well as the back allowing fo more division between campers and a place in the center for additional people or storage. In addition, a solid floor placed in the bottom of the tent helps keep family members dry during nasty weather There is an option to rent or purchase family camping tents.

Renting is a great option for families just starting to experience camping because they have the opportunity to try it first before purchasing. Generally, family camping tents can be found at most sporting good stores for a very minimum cost when compared with the comfort you will enjoy.

Lastly, most family camping tents have been made for fast and easy setup and take down. Although the tents are bigger, they are very flexible and easy to deal with and make the camping experience enjoyable for the entire family. Really great options are available for tents today, making finding the tent that is right for you and your family a fun experience.

It''s reasonably easy to be prepared and take into account basic safety measures when boating. Planning ahead for a day on the water is all it takes, and I don''t mean just planning the food and beverages!

By Chris Jensen

Remember, captain and crew should always be prepared for emergencies and never put guests at risk. Here are a few basic suggestions for a safe trip. Planning Ahead For a Great Voyage. Start by making sure the boat is sea worthy and everything on board is in good working condition. You should always do standard safety checks before you leave the marina, making sure the engine is running well, the battery is fully charged and the bilge pump is working properly.

Make sure the boat is also equip with the necessary navigational and communication devices, and that they are in working order. Always carry extra drinking water and extra fuel on board. The fuel should be stored safely in an external canister. A first aid kit and a tool kit are two things you might need in an emergency, so make sure they are on board as well.

Before you leave dock you should also be sure the boat is not overloaded and that you have personal flotation devices (PDF’’s) for every person on board. Show your guests where they are and how to use them in case of an emergency. Non-swimmers should keep the PDF on at all times. If you are setting way with first timers, make sure they know where to sit and when it’’s safe to move about.

Last but not least, always check the weather before you agree to set sail, know your crews level of competence, know the travel plans for the day and ask for the destination and return time in advance. You Can'’t Control the Weather To be safe on the water you must understand the weather is always a wild card. You can do your best to avoid a problem by checking weather before you set sail, but even the best weather forecast can not always tell you what is really ahead.

It’’s not uncommon to have a sunny day turn into thunderstorms when you are on the water. Boating safety means competence in changing conditions. Review your boater safety manual on a regular basis, so when a real emergency strikes you remember what to do. It’’s pretty much impossible to out run a storm. When you know a storm system is on you, quickly stow away all loose gear, make sure everyone is in personal flotation devices, and remain calm!

If you think your boat is in trouble, radio your location to the coast guard, don'’t wait until you know your boat is in trouble. Be prepared, be safe and have fun!

Huckleberry rakes dramatically increase the volume of wild huckleberries you can pick in an hour, except when the crop is sparse. However, there IS a learning curve, just like learning to set the hook on a fish. Proper technique is critical for lots of berries and fewer leaves - without damaging the wild huckleberry plant.

By Lee Landers

So, you are about to foray into your favorite woodland, and enjoy another wild berry picking experience. Did you know - if the crop is moderate to heavy - you could pick four to ten times as many wild huckleberries in an hour, with an inexpensive tool known as a “huckleberry rake”?

How to get more berries in your bucket!

The actual berries on most species of huckleberry plants, grow ONLY on the current year’’s growth. So don'’t try to “bull” your way through the plant. Since the tines of a rake are usually metal, and quite sturdy, there is a high risk of damaging the wild plant if you try to rake more than absolutely necessary. Plus you will hang up, and get more leaves in your bucket, which are time consuming to pick out.

If the berries are really sparse, you are best to hand pick. However, the heavier the huckleberry crop, the more a rake increases yields above handpicking … for obvious reasons!

Think small!

Huckleberry rakes work best with a small, manageable clump of berries. Short, quick, relaxed strokes, with just the right amount of berries and branchlets as a target, will net you the greatest yield. Until you get the hang of the wrist action, chase the smallest branchlets first, at the tips of the main branches. Slide the tines in just under the lowest huckleberry in a clump of maybe three to five berries, to start, then pull the tines up and through the loose bunch of wild huckleberries.

Your first swipe: “What just happened?”

Probably one of two things. Either you went too slow, and the huckleberries were pinched and squeezed, while your rake hung up a bit on the tiny branchlets. Or, you went too fast, and most of the berries flew OVER THE TOP of your rake, peppering the surrounding vegetation. Just like the rookie shrimp fishermen in the movie Forrest Gump, who only got old boots and a toilet seat in their first catch, your first raking efforts may net you more leaves than berries.

Not as easy as it looks, but you will get better, fast! If you are a fisherman or fisherwoman, you know what I'’m talking about when I describe “setting the hook”. You get the line semi-taut, and then at just the right moment, you feel a tug, give a little snap of the wrist and “fish on!”. You can describe and explain how to do the wrist motion all you want, but until you experience the sensation a few dozen - or even a few hundred - times, you just won'’t know how to set the hook, and catch that lunker.

Round 2!

So, lets try again. As you slide the tines under the huckleberries, maybe six to ten berries this time, you want to bring up the rake against the slight “pressure” of the attached berries — just like taking the slack out of a fish line. Note that if you try to take in too many branchlets with one swipe, the pressure turns your rake into a snarl among the twigs, reducing the effectiveness of your efforts, and increasing the risk of damage to the plant.

The instant you feel the slightest hint o
